Lyne App - Child Safety Standards

Child Safety

Effective Date: May 2, 2025

1. Our Commitment to Safety

Lyne is dedicated to fostering a safe, respectful, and positive environment for our users to connect, date, and build meaningful relationships within the diaspora community. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE). The safety and well-being of all individuals, especially children, are paramount.

While Lyne is intended for users aged 18 and older, we recognize the critical importance of implementing robust measures to prevent our platform from being misused for activities that harm children.

2. Definition of CSAE

For the purposes of this policy, Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) includes, but is not limited to:

  • Any content depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
  • Grooming a minor for sexual purposes.
  • Sextorting or coercing a minor into sexual activity.
  • Trafficking of a child for sexual purposes.
  • Any behavior or content that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers a child.

3.Prohibited Content and Behavior

The following activities related to CSAE are strictly prohibited on Lyne:

  • Creating, uploading, sharing, or requesting CSAM.
  • Engaging in conversations or actions aimed at grooming or soliciting minors.
  • Using the platform to facilitate or promote the sexual exploitation or endangerment of children.
  • Impersonating a minor or misrepresenting one's age to engage with minors inappropriately (though Lyne is 18+).
  • Any other behavior deemed to fall under the definition of CSAE.

Violation of these rules constitutes a serious breach of our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

4. Prevention and Detection Measures

Lyne employs several measures to prevent and detect CSAE:

  • Strict Age Gate (18+): Lyne is explicitly for adults aged 18 and over. We implement age verification steps during the registration process to deter underage users. Users found to be under 18 will have their accounts immediately terminated.
  • Content Moderation: We utilize a combination of automated tools and human review to monitor user-generated content (profiles, messages where appropriate and technically feasible, images) for violations of our policies, including indicators of CSAE.
  • User Reporting: We rely on our community to help keep Lyne safe. We provide clear and accessible in-app tools for users to report suspicious behavior, concerning content, or profiles they believe violate our safety standards, including potential CSAE.

5. Reporting Mechanisms

  • In-App Reporting: Users can easily report specific profiles, messages, or content directly within the app (Tap a profile or message and select 'Report'). Reports are treated with confidentiality.
  • Child Safety Point of Contact: A dedicated channel is available for reporting urgent child safety concerns, including suspected CSAE. Please contact our safety team at: safety@uselyneapp.com. This contact point is available to users, parents, guardians, and law enforcement.

6. Enforcement and Consequences

Lyne takes all reports of CSAE extremely seriously.

  • Investigation: All reports related to potential CSAE are prioritized and investigated promptly by our trained safety team.
  • Account Action: Users found to be violating our CSAE policy will face immediate and permanent termination of their account and ban from the platform.
  • Law Enforcement Cooperation: Lyne cooperates fully with law enforcement agencies as required by law. We will report detected CSAM to relevant authorities, such as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the U.S. or appropriate international bodies, and will respond to valid legal requests for information in CSAE investigations.

7. Data Privacy and Safety

User data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We implement security measures to protect user data, which is crucial in preventing unauthorized access that could compromise safety.

8. Policy Review and Updates

Lyne is committed to continuously improving its safety measures. This Child Safety Standards document will be reviewed regularly and updated as necessary to reflect evolving threats, technological advancements, and legal requirements. Users will be notified of significant changes.
